Welcome to the Willamette Modelers Club in the Willamette Valley, Oregon
The Willamette Modelers Club, Inc, (WMC) is a non profit organization dedicated to the promotion of free flight model airplane construction and competition. The club meets on selected Saturday evenings during the Winter and Spring months at Pop's Branding Iron Restaurant in Albany, Oregon. We sponsor five of six indoor free flight competitions each year at the South Albany High School gym during the Winter and Spring, and we host three major outdoor free flight competitions in the late Summer and early Fall. These outdoor competitions are held east of Tangent, Oregon on local rye grass fields.
The club publishes a ten page newsletter covering Northwest Free Flight events and activities. This newsletter, "WMC Patter", is produced on an irregular basis 89 times each year and is sponsored, in part by Trumps' Hobbies in Corvallis, Oregon. Other programs and projects include publishing the NW Free Flight Directory, sponsoring events and competitions for AMA Juniors, sponsoring model airplane swap meets, displaying at various model aviation shows in the area and related activities.
Membership in the Willamette Modelers Club is limited to current AMA members only or foreign modelers who are current members of their national organizations. Membership is on a calendar year basis. Memberships costs $2.00 for AMA Junior age members (up to 14 years of age), $4 for AMA Senior Age members (14 to 18) years of age), and $6.00 for AMA Open age members. Membership includes a subscription to WMC Patter, the right to attend club meetings, make proposals and vote on various items of club business. For interested people who are not WMC or AMA members but still wish to subscribe to WMC Patter, the club offers a subscription for $5.00 per year.
